In a significant move against the funding of terrorist activities, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Kishtwar Police conducted raids at various locations in Kishtwar District. Acting on house search warrants obtained from the NIA court in Jammu, the SIU targeted individuals believed to be involved in financing terrorism and anti-national activities.
Under the FIR No 272/2022 registered under the UAPA Act at PS Kishtwar, the suspects named in the case are identified as Shahnawaz alias Nayeem, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Chirool Padyarna; Nayeem Ahmed alias Amir or Gazi, son of Ghulam Nabi Gundna, residing near Jamia Masjid Kishtwar; Mohd Iqbal alias Bilal, son of Mohd Akber Butt, living near Kichloo Market Kishtwar; Shahnawaz Kanth alias Munna or Umer, son of Abdul Rasheed, from Hullar Kishtwar; and Javid Hussain Giri alias Muzamil, son of Mohd Amin Giri, hailing from Kundali Pochal. These individuals are believed to be operating from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK/PAK).
During the search operations conducted at their respective residences, the SIU collected crucial evidence that will be further examined to establish the involvement of the accused in anti-national activities and acts of terrorism. The collected evidence will be presented for judicial determination in order to hold the accused accountable.
Speaking about the operation, SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal-JKPS emphasized that anyone found to be associated with or supporting the terrorists, as revealed during the investigation, will also face prosecution. This indicates a comprehensive approach to dismantle the network of individuals aiding and abetting terrorist activities in the region.
